The mess depends on the honesty of the staff using it to be signed up for mess fees. Without fees, the mess could not run nor provide any social events.

Sign up to the mess by contacting Payroll.
All you need to do is send a quick email to the Payroll manager:

Dear Payroll,
​
I would like to sign up to pay the monthly junior doctors' mess fee of £7.50 for use of the doctors' mess. Please deduct this from my monthly payslip.
